DescriptionA man holding a rake on his shoulder stands to the left of a small barn, whichi is open on the first level, showing wooden beam construction. A grindstone, a plow, a small cart, barrels, a chicken coop, and two children feeding chickens are in the interior of the barn
Hay is visible in the hayloft in the top portion of the barn. A flag pole with an American flag flying is attached over the hayloft door. A large woodpile is to the right of the barn. A second barn, in the background, has ten dome-shaped holes in the gable, probably intended as a dovecote.
NotesLocation Note: The barn in this painting stood opposite the Pinney House in the Turkey Hills section of East Granby. The same barn appears in 1970.24.1. The house and barn were destroyed by fire, possibly in 1900.
