DescriptionA man holding a rake on his shoulder stands to the left of a small barn, whichi is open on the first level, showing wooden beam construction. A grindstone, a plow, a small cart, barrels, a chicken coop, and two children feeding chickens are in the interior of the barn
Hay is visible in the hayloft in the top portion of the barn. A flag pole with an American flag flying is attached over the hayloft door. A large woodpile is to the right of the barn. A second barn, in the background, has ten dome-shaped holes in the gable, probably intended as a dovecote.
NotesLocation Note: The barn in this painting stood opposite the Pinney House in the Turkey Hills section of East Granby. The same barn appears in 1970.24.1.
