DescriptionFive bust-length portraits appear as vignettes within a double rule. Some men have beards and mustaches. All wear academic or clerical robes, some with fur trim. Some wear hats or caps. Below each man are his name, birthplace, and date, and place of death and death date.
NotesSubject Note: Philipp Melanchthon (1497-1560), Jan Hus (1369?-1415), Dr. Martin Luther (1483-1546), Ulrich Zwingli (1484-1531), and John Calvin (1509-1564) were all religious reformers. Hus, Luther, and Zwingli looked down on the selling of indulgences, and Calvin argued for the separation of church and state.
The spelling of some names on the print differs from current standard usage.
