DescriptionWhite silk damask shoes with oval toe, pointed tongue, and Louis heel. The latchets cross the instep and would have buckled. The silk is lined with plain-woven linen and bound with silk tape. A white kid rand is stitched between the vamp and the sole. The leather sole is continuous over the front of the heel. The tack holes from the last are punched with a radiating pattern to make them decorative; "OB" within a rectangle is stamped on the bottom of the sole. The shoes are straight.
NotesOwner Note: Any records of the marriage of Joseph Babcock, Jr. found so far refer to his bride as "Molly". (Lee 3/19/2011)
