DescriptionBust-length studio portrait of a woman leaning on her hand.
NotesSubject Notes: Fannie Buell (1855-1889) was the wife of Erskine Gilman (1851-1908).

Maker Notes: Dated by the photographers studio on verso, and the agent listed. The agent is listed as "A. S. Barber" on the carte-de-visite. In the Connecticut Historical Society Bulletin, Volume 47, Number 4; Winter 1982 there is an "A. J. Barber" listed as an agent from 1871-76. The dates match well with the dates of the subject and her costume.
