DescriptionLadies' bathing suits are displayed on mannequins in the store window at the Sage-Allen Department Store, on Main Street, Hartford. Decorations include a beach towel, a toy sailboat, and palm leaves. A sign in front reads "THE / ANNETTE KELLERMAN / BATHING APPAREL / SOLD HERE". An elaborate monogram "SA" is above the center of the window.
NotesSubject Note: Annette Kellerman was a famous swimmer in the 1910s. In 1918 she appeared as a mermaid in the motion picture "Queen of the Seas." Also in that year, Sage Allen carried swimwear with her brand name. (Finlay 11/2/2013)
