DescriptionA large house in a residential neighborhood appears to be still under construction. The house features an open porch on the ground level and an enclosed porch on the second floor. A third porch is on the left side of the house. Dormers extend forward from the roof line. Piles of dirt and construction debris are on the slope in front of the house. Leafless shrubs are in the foreground. Leafless trees are in the background. A second large house is at the far right.
NotesSubject Note: The west end of Hartford and parts of West Hartford as well as other Hartford suburbs were undergoing extensive development as upper class bedroom communities during the 1910s and 1920s. The Connecticut Historical Society has a large collection of architectural drawings of houses from this period. (Finlay 11/2/2013)
