Signs in the store's display windows and along the façade of the building advertising a sale include a large sign below the round Romanesque arches of the first story windows reads: Fire! Smoke! And Water! Sale.", several signs read "FIRE SALE"; others read "WILL RE-OPEN AT 2PM". Bronze plaques at the corner of the building read "Brown Thomson Company."
A truck, with a sign on the side that reads "A. Squires & Son Co. / 33-43 Market St." is parked on the sidewalk. Trolley tracks run down the street. Snow is on the ground.
