DescriptionStorefront of Liggett's Drug Store on Main Street, downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Plate glass show windows on each side of the front entrance, many signs advertising cigars, candy, soda, drugs, combs, brushes, soaps, razors and gifts. Advertised products include "Prescriptions, Cigars, Candy Gifts, Soda, Drugs, Perfumes, Rubber Goods, Toilet Articles, Combs, Brushes, Soaps, Razors". Show windows have displays for "Jonteel Talc" "Black and White Cigars" "Rexall Orderlies" "Fresh Cocoanut Cakes" and other Rexall products such as "Rubbing Oil" "Metholine Balm" "Cherry Cough Syrup."Perfume, tobacco, confectionary and patent medicine products are also displayed. A general sign reading "Liggett's Riker-Hegeman Drug Store" is runs across the length of the store. The signs "Owen D. Rist Diamonds and Watches" and "Dr. J.M. Craig Dentist" are in the second story display windows.
NotesSubject Note: Liggett's Drug Store is also the subject of 1995.36.1105-1107. 1995.36.1105 is dated to to 1917 based on calendars on the wall, and this photograph was presumably taken on the same day. Liggett's Drug Store was located at 851 Main Street, Hartford. (Agins 8/16/2013)
