DescriptionColt Bicycle Club uniform of dark green wool.

(a) Jacket - Four button front-closing jacket of dark green wool. Lapel, pockets, front opening, and bottom edge all trimmed in black cotton ribbon. Body of jacket is fully lined in black cotton, sleeves lined in white cotton with blue stripes. Tag at center back neckline reads "David Lous / Hartford"

(b) Trousers - Dark green wool trousers with center front button closure. Bottom of leg ties with a cotton ribbon. Six bottons at waist for use with suspenders. Five pockets (three in front, two at back) internally made of cotton duct, with exception of small front pocket internally made of figured cotton. Waist and upper portion of trousers lined in white cotton with blue stripes. At center back waist is written "641" in black marker and written on inside of small front pocket in brown ink is "A.L. Ulrich / Waist - 17 1/2 / Leg - 15 3/4"

(c) Cap - Cap with small front brim made of dark green wool with wide cotton ribbon band around crown. Band has "Colt" in raised letters at center front. Gold buttons, once covered in black ribbon, attach a black cord, possibly used to secure cap under the chin. Inside of crown is lined with leather.

Label TextBy the time the Colt Bicycle Club was organized, the tradition of uniforming bicycle club members was well established. Many clubs used other military practices as well, such as bugle calls to mount and ride in formation.
