DescriptionManuscript map of High Ridge, Stamford, Connecticut, showing the system of local roads, which are labeled. Red circles and street numbers are also shown, indicating the locations of buildings.
Label TextHigh Ridge is a section of Stamford, Connecticut located west of Laurel Reservoir. As early as 1896, it had its own post office and school district. During the 1960s, Stamford's real estate boomed, as corporations from New York City located to the area. Although there was some comercial development along High Ridge Road, including a First National grocery store at 27 High Ridge Road and a Radio Shack at 29 High Ridge Road, for the most part it remained an upscale residential district, with large homes on large lots. This manuscript map appears to have been traced from a published map; the reason why these particular houses and businesses are singled out is unknown.
