DescriptionHalf-length miniature portrait of an older woman with a brown hair and blue eyes. The woman is wearing a white cap with blue ribbons and a high waisted dress with a self fabric caplet with blue embroidery on edge.
Label TextCynthia Parish was born in Canterbury, Connecticut in 1770. She married Ebenezer Waldo of Canterbury, Connecticut and they had four children. This miniature is attributed to Charles William Eldridge, who also painted miniature portraits of her son Loren Pinckney Sr. and her husband. It was probably painted shortly before her death in 1837 at the age of sixty-seven. Mrs. Waldo is buried with her husband in the East Burying Ground in Tolland, Connecticut.
