Label TextDr. Cincinnatus A. Taft was born in Dedham, Massachusetts in 1822. He was a graduate of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New York in 1846. Dr. Taft settled in Hartford that same year as a homeopathic doctor and served as Mark Twain's family physician until his death in 1884 at the age of 62. During his autopsy, it was discovered that he had serious digestional issues and died of starvation.
