Label TextThis miniature may represent K.W. Bronson, whose descendant Elizabeth H. Bronson donated it to the Connecticut Historical Society. In the 1840s, the introduction of the daguerreotype and photographic portrait proved to be serious competition for painted miniatures. They reduced sitting time, could be reproduced with much less effort, and were more affordable. This miniature may have been painted from a photographic image, which was a way for miniature painters to adapt to the expectations of their patrons.
