DescriptionAlbum of amateur and professional photographs of a trip to the near-east by members of the Knight Dexter Cheney family. Includes images on board a steamship and views of Madiera, Gibralta, Egypt, Jerusalem, Constantinople, Athens, Cornith, Malta, Palermo, Amalfi, Sorrento, Pompeii, Venice, Granada, Algiers, Cadiz and Seville. Members of the Cheney family are shown riding donkeys and in hammocks carried by bearers. Camels appear in some pictures. Photographs of the ship include one view showing passengers in steerage crowding one of the lower decks.
