The woman is wearing a high-waisted black dress with a caplet, pleated sleeves, pleated bodice, and a large white collar with a brooch at the center of the neckline. She is also wearing a black belt with gold buckle and a gold watch chain. The back of the metal frame has an opening under glass with a locket of braided brown hair.
Label TextThis miniature portrait was probably painted in 1825 to celebrate the marriage of Frances Elizabeth Eldridge and Loren Pinckney Waldo Sr. The couple had five children. The portrait is attributed to Mrs. Waldo's younger brother, Charles William Eldridge.
