DescriptionPortrait of a young boy with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is wearing a black dress, white collar, and white pants. He is holding onto the reigns of a white toy horse to his right. The miniature is in a dark brown case with bird and grapevine pattern on the case.
Label TextLoren Pinckney Waldo, Jr. was born in Tolland, Connecticut, the son of Judge Loren Pinckney Waldo, Sr. and Frances Elizabeth Eldridge Waldo. He worked as a clerk under his father in the pension office in Washington, D.C, and later under General Palmer as a surveyor. He retired to Washington, D.C. and died in 1865. This miniature depicting Waldo as a young boy is attributed to his uncle, Charles William Eldridge.
