DescriptionMetal box cutter. The box cutter has a single blade that does not retract and is held in between the two parts of the handle by a single screw. The handle has dark grey paint that is heavily worn on the bottom and top edges. There is an engraved box placed horizontally on the handle that has lettering in it that reads: "STANLEY 229". On the opposite side of the handle a similar box contains lettering that reads: "MADE IN U.S.A". On this side of the handle situated between the screw and the blade are letters, scratched into the surface of the metal in handwritten script, which read "R W". These letters presumably stand for Richard Welling.
