DescriptionPortrait of a man facing slightly left. He has blue eyes, brown hair curly hair, and sideburns. The man is wearing a black jacket, white shirt, white waistcoat with buttons, and a white stock or cravet. The miniature is in an oval metal frame with a double loop suspension. On the back of the frame, there is a braided lock of brown hair in basket pattern.
Label TextWilliam Conner was born 11 July 1790 at Cheshire, Connecticut. William Connor succeeded his father-in-law Solomon Porter as City Clerk of Hartford, serving until about 1840. He was also appointed Surveyor of Customs and during much of his career he was agent for the New York life Insurance,Trust Company, and Secretary of the Protection Insurance Company. Conner died 24 December 1870.
