DescriptionWoman's black wool broadcloth shoulder cape. The cape has a high turn-down collar that is three inches wide and is appliquéd with self-fabric flowers at the corners. The cape closes with two hooks and eyes at the neck. A buttoned flap covers the hooks and eyes at the neck; another buttoned flap is used as a closure about three inches below the neck. The cape is ornamented with vertical strap-like stitched designs that end in points and are appliquéd with three self-fabric disks in graduated sizes. Below each of the five strap ornaments is an appliquéd self-fabric scrolled quatrefoil design. The edges of the cape are left raw, as the wool is so heavily fulled. They are finished only with a triple row of top stitching. The cape is lined with black cotton sateen.
