DescriptionWoman's white cotton chemise. It is virtually sleeveless, with only an underarm gusset and eyelet trim around the armhole edges. The wide and shallow neckline is also trimmed with a band and a narrow ruffle of eyelet embroidery. The upper center front of the chemise has a rectangular inset of vertical pintucks bordered by the eyelet band. A central opening in this inset is covered with an eyelet-trimmed placket. The front and back panels of the chemise are gathered into the neckline band. The armholes have a 1 1/2-inch-wide lining for reinforcement. The width of the petticoat is not pieced. The hem is 1 1/2-inches deep.
