DescriptionView of New Haven include several of city streets, taken from an elevated viewpoint, one with what appears to be Sleeping Giant in the background, one with New Haven Harbor in the background. Views of commercial blocks include Ferry's Bakery, H. S. Perry Carpets Oil Cloth and Paper Hangings, the New Drug Store,and Mathewman & Co. Hardware. One view of the Black Rock Skating Rink is dated 1883. The rink appears to be on a wharf or pier. Another view of a large rock is labeled Savin Rock. Houses include colonial style house and Gothic revival cottages with scrollcut bargeboards. One photograph is of a cemetery with marble grave monuments. Men and women, some of them apparently in mourning, stand beside a monumental statue of an orator. One photograph depicts Wintergreen Falls. Some photographs include deep snow and may have been taken during the Blizzard of 1888.
