DescriptionPortraits of Harold Fisher Pierce as a young man, a middle-aged man, and an elderly man. In one photograph he is wearing an academic cap and gown. In another photograph he is wearing a military uniform. In one photograph he is holding an infant, and in another he is sitting on a grassy lawn with a woman and child. In one, he is wearing eyeglasses, reading a newspaper, and smoking a cigarette.
NotesSubject Note: Harold Fisher Pierce was born on 6 May 1889 in Willington, Connecticut. He attended Clark University and Harvard Medical School. He later obtained advanced degrees from Oxford University and Columbia University. He served as a flight surgeon with the Air Force in World War I and World War II. Late in life, he was medical director of the Connecticut State Welfare Department. (Finlay 4/2/2014)
