Label TextMalleable Iron Fittings was incorporated in 1864, but the company was in business much earlier. The firm was located in Branford, Connecticut and specialized in making pipes and radiators for steam heating. Two Danish immigrants, Emil C. Hammer and Thorvald F. Hammer, both worked for the company during the twentieth century, Emil Hammer as secretary and treasurer; Thorvald Hammer in foundry operations. Valdemar Hammer, who drew this map, was the son of Thorvald Hammer. The Hammer family remained involved with Malleable Iron Fittings until the company went out of business in 1969.
