DescriptionMap of part of Middletown, Connecticut, with Spring Street to the north, the Connecticut River to the east, College Street to the south, and Baldwin Street to the west. The map depicts local roads and land lots, labeled with the owner's name and rectangles indicating the existence of buildings. Schools, churches, cemeteries and a library are depicted in green. The New Haven, Middletown and Willimantic Railroad and Connecticut Valley Railroad run through town.
Label TextOne of a series of large scale maps depicting parts of Middletown, this map shows the the heart of the city of Middletown, including the junction of Main Street and Washington Street. The Hartford & New York Steam Boat Dock is located near the foot of Washington Street. Towards the west, the commercial district with its banks, businesses, court house, and custom house gives way to a residential area, with some large estates. This map was originally part of an atlas published in 1874 by F. W. Beers & Co.
