DescriptionView from the west side of Main Street, Hartford, towards State Street. Pedestrians, including men and women, are in the foreground. Tracks are in the middle of the street. Horse-drawn vehicles, including carriages and carts, are also in the street. Commercial buildings lining State Street bear signs that read: "The Hartford Printing Co. / Home of Elihu Geer's Sons City Directory", "Steam Job & Card Printer", "Kashmans's Furnishing House", "A.J.Glazier Real Estate", "Crane, Dentist", "Byrne, tailor", "J.S.Schott, cigars", "H.P. Hitchcock", and "T. A. Honiss."
NotesSubject Notes: Henry P. Hitchcock was a merchant tailor at 10 State Street.
Henry A. Deming and Louis Gundlach were jewelers and opticians at 20 State Street. Thomas A. Honiss was a dealer in fish, oysters, clams and lobsters at 30 State Street. Sam L.G.Crane was a dentist at 8 State Street.
John Byrne was a tailor at 8 State Street.
James S. Schott was a tobacconist at 6 State Street.
Kashman's store was located at 12 State Street.
A.J. Glazier's real estate office was located at 8 State Street.
The Hartford Printing Company was located at 16 State Street, on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors.
