DescriptionView looking north on Main Street. The Old State House is immediately on the right, but is not visible. Tracks for horse cars are in the dirt street. Commercial buildings line the left side of the street. These include: " Phoenix Bank, Thomas F. Duffey / Boots and Shoes, Jas. Daniels Hat Store, Brown & Gross, Clark and Booth / Printers, Office / of the Evening Post, Hartford / County / Mutual / Fire / Insurance / Company, and R. G. Waterous / Hatter / Hats, Caps, & Furs / Gents / Furnishing Goods / The / corner Hat Store." Lamp posts and barrels are on the sidewalk. The Gothic tower of Christ Church is in the right background.
