DescriptionConvention badge consisting of pin, ribbon, and round button. Rectangle, metal button at top has a gold frame with a piece of paper, probably for a name tag. Attached is a satin ribbon with vertical faded red, white, and blue strips. In gold reads, "DELEGATE / 55TH / ANNUAL / CONNECTICUT / STATE AERIE / CONVENTION". Below in gold is an image of an eagle carrying a ribbon with "F.O.E." written above. After this in gold reads, "MERIDEN, CONN. / JUNE 17-18, 1961 / 55TH / ANNIVERSARY / CONNECTICUT / STATE AERIE / 1906 - 1961". Attached to the bottom of the ribbon is a circular, silver colored plastic button which reads in black, "57th Anniversary / MERIDEN AERIE / No. 720 F.O.E. / 1904 - 1961".

NotesObject Note: This badge was made for Connecticut's annual convention held for members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E), which "is an international non-profit organization uniting fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills and promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope". This group was founded in February 1898 and is still in existance as of 2013. Their conventions are called Aerie's after the name of an eagles nest.
The first convention for F.O.E. in Connecticut was held in Meriden in 1904 but the first state-wide convention wasn't held until 1906, which explains why the ribbon states the 55th annual Connecticut state convention, but on the button it reads 57th anniversary for the Meriden Aerie.
