DescriptionCommittee badge with pin, two ribbons, and medallion. Pin at top has decorative brass frame, inside is a piece of paper with, "RECEPTION COMMITTEE" typed across. Attached at front is a small, cloth american flag. Behind it is a larger ribbon with red, white, and green vertical lines. Attached at the bottom is a circle, brass medallion with the image of Christopher Columbus standing on land, holding a sword in his right hand, and touching a mounted cross with his left. He is surrounded by five kneeling men and in the background is a ship. Below this image, engraved reads, "W & H O. 1492". On the back is a semi-circle imprint reading, "THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. / NEWARK, N.J.".
