DescriptionCream-colored, plain-woven wool flannel petticoat. Narrow pleats spaced widely apart in front and deeper pleats more closely spaced across the back brings most of the petticoat fullness to the back. The waistband, of plain cotton, is 3/4-inch wide. The bottom edge of the petticoat is scalloped, with the raw edges covered by a closely worked buttonhole stitch in matching wool thread. There is a two-inch-wide tuck taken around the petticoat about eight inches above the bottom edge. The petticoat opens at center back. There is no closing mechanism currently on the waistband, but it was probably originally a hook and eye.
