Description[Pair of brown and maroon man's hockey skates inside their original box. The box (.a,.b) has outdoor skating scenes on it, and is colored red, white, and blue. The skates have maroon leather toes, arch, reinforcement strap, and hell strip. There is also a maroon circle on both sides of the heel. The rest is black leather. The reinforcement strap starts inside the heel, goes through a hole underneath the eyelets and latches into a brass buckle on the other side of the skate.
ON the box, each side has a different picture, on top, a picture of a male skater jumping barrels, and reads, "ICE SKATE OUTFIT"; on the sides, picture of five people skating on a lake with trees in the background, in the middle picture of a speed skater in a circle and reads, "ICE SKATE OUTFIT"; on the short end, picture of three people skating, in the middle, "SKATES MFG BY UNION HARDWARE / REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. / TORRINGTON, CONN. / MADE IN U.S.A. / SHOES MANUFACTURED BY / JOSEPH TO. WOOD. CO., WARE, MASS. / NO/ 8664 MEN'S CHROMIUM HOCKEY SIZE 10"; on the short side, a picture of two men playing hockey.
On the sole, "GENUINE / GOODYEAR WELT / STEELSHANK", on sole plate, "11 1/2"; stamped on second vertical brace, "MFG. BY / UNION / HARDWARE COMPANY / TORRINGTON, CONN. U.S.A."; on sticker on blade, "CHROMIUM".
NotesObject Note: The museum record says these skates are in their original box, however the transcription says that the box has a number "10", while the skates are marked "11 1/2". This is probaby not the original box, but one very like the original. (Lee 8/6/2012)
