DescriptionOvershoe of carved wood, shaped similar to a slipper-type shoe, with a slightly rounded toe. The leather sole is nailed on with iron tacks. Between the sole and the wooden shoe is attached a leather strap that would have fastened over the foot. Another leather strap was added, probably when it was discovered that one strap was not secure enough; the second strap is nailed onto the leather sole (rather than between the sole and the shoe), just in front of the very shallow heel. This heel is carved of wood, like the rest of the shoe, and then has leather nailed onto it.
