DescriptionPortrait of a woman in a light-colored dress, sitting in a chair, holding a book on her lap. She is sitting in a lavishly decorated room. There is a large Oriental rug on the floor, several upholstered chairs, a round table with an ornate lamp on it, and paintings on the walls. There is a chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
NotesSubject note: Joel Wolfe Thorne (1870-1924) was Samuel Thorne's son--Jonathan Thorne's nephew.

Constituent note: While the inscription on the recto of the photograph says that it was made by Joel W. Thorne, there is no evidence that he was a photographer.
