DescriptionFull-length standing portrait of a man wearing a military cap and a long white apron. He has a beard and mustache. He is holding implements in both his left and right hands, that may be a knife and sharpening steel.
NotesSubject Note: The Twenty-fifth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry was recruited in Hartford and Tolland Counties in the fall of 1862. The regiment mustered in on 11 November 1862 and mustered out at Hartford on 26 August 1863. During its nine-month existence, the Twenty-fifth was stationed in Louisiana and was in combat at Irish Bend, Port Hudson, Brashear City, and Bayou Boeuf. This man is assumed to have been a member of this regiment because the photograph was purchased together with a lot of portraits of members of the Twenty-fifth. (Finlay 5/16/2012)
