NotesSubject Note: Mary Ann Phelps was born on October 28, 1819. She married John Allen in 1848. The couple lived in Saybrook, CT. If this photograph actually represents Mary Ann Phelps Allen it is unclear why it was made in Springfield, Missouri. Mary Ann Allen died in Connecticut in 1900. (Ruocco, 04/6/2012)

Date Note: Photograph appears to be a late (1870s-1890s) 19th-century copy of a mid-19th century portrait. (Finlay 4/7/2012)
