NotesConstituent Note: There is an adhesion on the back of the mount that is covering the signiture of the photographers. The address is still visible though and Prescott & Gage were the only photographers at that location during this time period. (Ruocco, 04/14/2012)

Subject Note: Griffin A. Stedman was from Hartford, Connecticut. He enlisted and was mustered into the Fifth Regiment Infantry Company I on June 22, 1861 as a Captain. On November 27, 1861 he was promoted to Major in the Eleventh Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry. He was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel on June 11, 1862. He was wounded on September 17, 1862 at the Battle of Antietam, Maryland. On September 25, 1862 he was promoted to Colonel. He became Brevet Brigader-General on August 6, 1864. He was killed on August 5, 1864 at the battle of Petersburg, Va. (Ruocco, 04/14/2012)
