DescriptionPortrait of a young man wearing a military uniform. He is standing on a patterned floorcloth or carpet with his arm resting on a balustrade. And painted backdrop representing a fluted column on a high base is in the background.
NotesSubject Note: Inscription on the mount appears to read "H. C. Hovey" but subject is probably Henry Hovey. Henry Hovey was from Norwich, Connecticut and enlisted on August 4, 1862. He was mustered in to the Eighteenth Regiment Connecticut Volunteer Infantry as a Commissary-Sergeant on August 18, 1862. He was promoted to Quarter-Master Sergeant on November 9, 1862. He was reduced to ranks and transfered to Company A as a Private on December 19, 1864. He was discharged on June 21, 1865. (Ruocco, 05/05/2012)Status
