NotesSubject Note: Justin H. Chapman of Hartford enlisted in the First Connecticut Volunteer Infantry on April 19 1861 and was mustered in as a first lieutenant on April 23. He was promoted to captain on May 24 1861. He mustered out on July 31 1861. He had already enlisted in the Fifth Connecticut Volunteer Infantry on June 21 1861 and was mustered into this regiment as a captain on August 1 1861. He was wounded on August 9 1862 at Cedar Mountain and captured on August 17 1862. He was paroled on October 6 1962. On September 5 1863 he was transferred as a captain to the Veterans Reserve Corps. He was discharged on January 1 1868. (Finlay 4/19/2012)
