DescriptionBust-length portrait of a young man wearing a Union uniform. He has a mustache and sideburns. The portrait is oval in format, enclosed within a decorative frame printed on the mount.

NotesSubject Note: Elisha P. Chipman of New London mustered in as a 1st sergeant in the Twenty-first Connecticut Volunteer Infantry on September 5 1862. He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on December 22 1862 and appointed Adjutant on January 11 1865. He mustered out on June 16 1865. (Finlay 4/17/2012)
