NotesSubject Note: Edwin J. Merriam was from Durham, Connecticut. He enlisted on 29 August 1861 and was mustered into the Seventh Regiment Infantry on 6 September 1861 as a Sergeant. He was promoted from Sergeant in Company C on 22 December 1863 to Commissary-Sergeant. He became Second Leitenant for Company E on 12 April 1864. He was wounded on 16 August 1864 in the Battle at Deep Run, Virginia. He died on 6 September 1864. (Ruocco 4/21/2012)
