NotesSubject Note: Charles Edwin Bulkeley (1835-1864) was the son of Eliphalet Adams Bulkeley and his wife Lydia Smith Morgan Bulkeley. He was born on 16 December 1835. A lawyer by trade, he enlisted in the United States Army on 18 December 1861. On 16 January 1864, he was promoted to the rank of Captain. He died, apparently of illness, in February 1864 and is buried at Cedar Hill.Velvet pad has a scrollwork design.
