DescriptionTan silk quilted petticoat. The lower 5 1/4 inches of the petticoat are quilted in parallel horizontal lines. Above this for a depth of nine inches is a quilted pattern of a diamond grid. Parallel vertical lines are quilted for seven inches above the grid pattern, and the rest of the petticoat is unquilted. The skirt is gathered into a waistband of blue cotton fabric. This blue cotton is also used for the petticoat backing. A tuck that is approximately one-inch wide is taken around the petticoat, approximately two inches below the waistband. The batting is undyed cotton. The quilting is done with brown silk thread at about nine stitches per inch. The bottom edge is bound with brown/black silk and cotton tape.
