NotesSubject Note: Thorndale, or "Thornedale" as it has also been written, is probably the Thorne family's estate in Millbrook, NY.

The other copy of this print, 2011.344.1025, was titled ""Thorndale" by Chester." The "Chester" referred to in the title and inscription on the print is probably Chester Thorne (1863-1927). He was a business leader who helped develop the Port of Tacoma. The son of Edwin Thorne, he was Jonathan and Samuel Thorne's nephew. There is no evidence that he was a photographer.
