DescriptionOlive green silk quilted petticoat. The quilting pattern in the lower third of the petticoat is parallel diagonal lines. The top two-thirds is quilted with a large-scale diamond grid. The top of the petticoat is knife-pleated into the waistband. The backing fabric is beige, plain-woven cotton. The batting is gray cotton. The quilting thread is pale green silk; the quilting is done at six stitches per inch. The bottom edge is bound with green velvet. Around the bottom edge of the petticoat is stitched a 3 1/2 inch wide pleated white organdy ruffle, trimmed with bobbin lace. Heading the ruffle are rosettes of beige silk with fringed edges, centered with brown and white silk-covered faux buttons. This ruffle is not original to the petticoat and was probably added for a costumed pageant.
