DescriptionPortrait of a woman wearing a dress with a corsage of artificial flowers. She holds a fan in her right hand. A tight cap or snood covers her hair. She wears a choker around her neck.
NotesSubject Note: Elizabeth James Hamersley was the daughter of William James Hamersley and the sister of Judge William Hamersley. She was born in Hartford about 1830. (Finlay 3/6/2012)

Medium Note: The peculiar plastic support may reflect the photograph's Italian origin. 2011.63.57 is a later copy of this photograph, presumably made by a Hartford photographer after the subject returned from Europe. (Finlay 3/7/2012)
