DescriptionThree-quarter length portrait of a woman wearing a dress with a square neckline trimmed with lace and a long train. She also wears long gloves, earrings, and a brooch.
NotesDate Note: 2011.63.54 is dated "Feb. 1882"; 2011.63.55 is dated "Feb. 1883." The photographs appear to have been taken at the same time. (Finlay 3/6/2012)

Subject Note: Jane Allen of Saybrook married William Hamersley of Hartord in 1882. The couple had two children: a daughter, Janet; and a son William James Hamersley. (Finlay 3/6/2012)

Title Note: Jane's nickname was evidently "Jenny." The name "Jane A. Hamersley" is inscribed on 2011.63.54; the name "Jenny Allen Hamersley" is inscribed on 2011.63.55. Both are photographs of the same woman. (Finlay 3/6/2012)
