DescriptionFull-length -ortrait of a man standing beside a table. He is wearing a long coat, vest, shirt, and necktie. A top hat rests on the table, which is covered with a tablecloth.

Case has an octagonal gilt mat and red silk pad.The mat is gold with green felt edges. An abstract triangular design is embossed on the front cover.
NotesSubject Note: Erastus Collins, born in Blanford, Massachusetts in 1815, and died in Hartford, Connecticut on 7 April 1880. He was married in Philadephia, Pennsylvania, on 26 January 1848 to Mary Sarah Atwood. The photograph was most likely taken at that time. Collins and his wife had four children, Henrietta Atwood, born 11 April 1849; Atwood, born 19 September 1851; Caroline Lyman, born 1 February 1855; and William Erastus, born 10 October 1859. Collins was owner of a dry goods business, director of Aetna Insurance Company, Society for Savings, Charter Oak Bank, American Asylum for the Deaf, and Hartford Hospital. He was a founder of the Asylum Hill Congregational Church. (Ruocco, 3/3/2012)
