DescriptionLarge drawstring bag constructed in two parts. The top half is black ribbed silk. A brown silk tape drawstring is inserted 1 5/8-inches below the top so that when it is drawn up, the silk forms a ruffle. The lower half of the bag is black wool broadcloth, embroidered in a needlepoint stitch with a design of a floral bouquet. The corners are filled with gold-tone flourishes, and the edges are bordered on one side with a red and green floral vine, and on the other with a blue and yellow twisted ribbon design. The front and back of the purse are joined around three sides with a 1 1/2-inch-wide strip of the black wool, embroidered with an orange and purple flowering vine. The bag is lined with brown glazed cotton. The strip around the sides of the lower half of the bag is interlined with stiff, unidentified material.
