DescriptionShort and full woman's chemise, with the front and back panels gathered into an eyelet-embroidered yoke, which extends with a center front opening about five inches long. A small mother of pearl button closes it midway up its length. Two buttonholes at the top would have closed with a stud. The neckline edge is scalloped; it is about four inches deep in front and eleven inches wide. The sleeves are short, and they are wider at the bottom (5 1/2 inches) than at the top (2 1/8"). They are gathered into the shoulder and into an eyelet-embroidered band at the arm opening. The armhole is reinforced with a lining about 1 1/4-inch wide. The chemise is not pieced at the side seams, but is a single width of fabric at both front and back. The hem is one inch wide.
