DescriptionPlans for a three story shingle sided colonial revival house feature a gambrel roof with overhanging eaves and cross gambrel on the east elevation. Notable features of the house include, a lattice-work stone terrace on the east elevation, and custom detailed louvered shutters for the windows.

Windows on the house are primarily louvered double-hung sash windows in either the eight-over-eight, six-over-six or four-over-four configurations. Other windows featured on the house include grouped casement windows on the south, east, and north elevations, as well as, large tri-part windows on the west and east elevations.

Eight drawings are included in the set: west, south, east and north elevations, as well as, cellar, first floor, second floor, and third floor and roof plans. The cellar plans include a store room, cold room, laundry room, hamper / clothes chute, toilet, heater coal bin, and heater room. The first floor plans include a terrace, sun parlor, living room, entry hall, entry porch, toilet, dining room, butler's pantry, kitchen and rear porch. The second floor plans include a sleeping porch, dressing room, two chambers (bedrooms), two bath rooms, hall, linen closet, and rear hall. The third floor plans include unfinished space, a maid's room, hall, tar closet, and bath room.
Label TextWilliam T. Marchant designed numerous Colonial revival houses like this one in Hartford and nearby West Hartford during the early part of the twentieth century. The address of this particular house is unknown, but the style and date suggest that it was built either in the West End of Hartford or in the immediate area. Anyone with knowledge of the location of this house is invited to contact the Connecticut Historical Society at graphics@chs.org.
NotesTitle Note: Louis W. Slocum was a Hartford real estate developer.
