DescriptionTrade sign in the shape of an axe head. Top half of the sign is painted black with gold lettering; while the lower half is gray with black lettering.
Label TextCollins & Company were nationally known manufacturers of axes and other edge tools. Their line of specialized sugar cane knives resulted in a thriving market in South America, as evidenced by this sign intended for use in Brazil.
NotesHistorical Note: Collins Company produced axes, knives and machetes for export and domestic use. They also had an extensive market in South America.
